Portfolio Update (July 2015)

In June, I closed all my positions for my US portfolio as I would need the money for some other use. After selling all the positions and transferred the money back to my bank, I realised I made a huge mistake. I have already had some savings and was ready to transfer them to invest in US stocks.

In June, I closed all my positions for my US portfolio as I would need the money for some other use. After selling all the positions and transferred the money back to my bank, I realised I made a huge mistake. I have already had some savings and was ready to transfer them to invest in US stocks.

I have also closed all my positions for my Singapore portfolio in July after the Ex-Date for SingPost special dividends. Find that it is kind of wasted as the dividend yield that I will be enjoying is actually quite high.

From August onwards, I will be doing some adjustments to my investing strategies to include growth stocks on top of dividend stocks into my portfolio which I will name them as Dividend Portfolio and Growth Portfolio. More of how I intend to execute my new strategy can be found here.

Dividends

SingPost announced a special dividend of 0.75 Singapore cents per share to be paid to its shareholders, bringing the total annual dividend from 6.25 Singapore cents to 7 Singapore cents per share. With the announcement, it will bring my yield for SingPost to 6.77% from 6.04%.

Receiving dividends from GSK and SingPost, my total YTD dividends was up by $136.30 to $396.66 or 3.23% yield.

Portfolio Update (April 2015)

The month of April was filled with uncertainties if the Fed will be raising the interest rates. The uncertainty brought fears to investors, causing some of the stock prices to plummet. At the last few trading days of April, the Fed suddenly announced that they will revise the interest rates again in June, bringing relief to investors, bringing them back to the market.

Dividends

Received dividends from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in the month of April. After all charges are deducted, total dividends received is S$18.29. Year-to-Date dividends received from GlaxoSmithKline and from my dividend portfolio is 1.48% and 1.20%.

Total Dividends $147.80 1.20%

Profit & Loss

Profit and loss changes during the month of April was mixed but ended slightly lower compared to the end of March. This is mainly because of the uncertainties of the raising of interest rates by Fed.

Purchased 14 shares of Sherwin-Williams Co on 9 April after the share price broke its recent high of 291.27. Although the share price did not manage to continue rising, the company’s fundamentals still did not change and I continued holding on to the shares of the company.

Similarly, share prices took a hit in April on fears of the Fed raising the interest rates, causing the income portfolio to shed a few points.

Portfolio Update (March 2015)

I am currently sitting at the desk of my hotel room during my holidays drafting this post. Many thoughts came to mind while I was doing this. One example of the thoughts was that it feels great to be able to relax in my hotel, enjoying my trip while my money continues work hard for me.

Hope my investments will be able to support me living on passive income while I enjoy my life.

Dividends received from Visa Inc (NYSE: V) and AmerisourceBergen Corp (NYSE: ABC) in the month of March were reinvested using the Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP). The reason why I used DRIP was that I would like to hold the stocks of these companies for a longer period and the usage of DRIP could help me gain better compared to taking the dividends out and put them into a bank.

You could read more about DRIP here.
